WEC 48 Payouts Revealed; Fighters Literally Make Peanuts

The California State Athletic Commission released the official payout numbers for those who competed on Saturday night's WEC 48: "Aldo vs. Faber" pay-per-view extravaganza, and to the surprise of many, it was revealed that the organization's fighters literally make peanuts. Topping the salary list was featherweight champ and pound-for-pound superstar Jose Aldo, who earned a whopping six bushels of peanuts, while promotional newcomer Chan Sung Jung - a.k.a. the "Korean Zombie", who went the distance with Leonard Garcia in a preliminary bout that aired live on SpikeTV - took in a single jar of generic peanut butter. "You won't hear me complaining," said former champ Mike Brown from his bed in a homeless shelter in Dade County, Florida. "A bushel is about 35 pounds, and I was given two of them even though I was knocked out by Manny Gamburyan. Do you know what you can trade 70 pounds of peanuts for? Smokes, clean socks, old Time magazines... you name it."
