New York Amateur MMA Fighter Beats Up Cop, Doesn't Like Jail

NEW YORK

Just because you're trained to beat up people doesn't mean you actually should. Such is the case with New York-based amateur MMA fighter James Hilton, who's now in jail for beating up a cop in Schenectady over the weekend.

Here's the Albany Times-Union with the details:

Police say Hilton, 32, of Glens Falls beat Officer Mark Weekes early Saturday, throwing Weekes to the ground and slamming the officer's head on the pavement. Weekes, 35, an Iraq war veteran, suffered a fractured skull and facial injuries, police said.
Hilton is an amateur mixed martial arts fighter who trained and fought locally, Lt. Mark McCracken said.
According to Tapology, Hilton sports a 2-4 record and has fought in Cage Wars for a bit.

As per the Times-Union article, he fears for his safety in jail. I guess he's going to have to work on defending the ground-and-pound, eh?
