Necks Risked and Taken at Aggressive Combat Championship 10
NEW YORK
It takes an act of bravery to willingly risk your neck within the cage, and sometimes a neck is what you're giving and sometimes it's what you're taking. At Aggressive Combat Championship 10, fans who came down to the York College Arena in Jamaica, Queens on Saturday night got to witness a successful jiu-jitsu instructor risk all for his first taste of caged combat, and they saw firsthand the dominance of a featherweight hell-bent on redemption. From crushing KO's to hard-fought battles, ACC 10 had it all, but ultimately it was about necks given and necks taken, and the bravery on display throughout.

Female Champ Destiny Quinones on MMA in New York
NEW YORK
(February 28, Queens, N.Y.) Last week the National Organization of Women sent New York State Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie a letter asking that he drop his support of mixed martial arts because they believe the sport is hostile to women. But 19-year-old Ozone Park resident Destiny Quinones - who became the New York Fight Exchange's female amateur MMA 115-pound champ last month - doesn't see it that way.

Legislative Leanings: Assemblyman Joseph Lentol on MMA
NEW YORK
Assemblyman Joseph Lentol on legislation that would lift the ban on professional MMA:
Assemblyman Joseph Lentol on legislation that would lift the ban on professional MMA:
I've supported it in the past and I continue to support it. It’s a very popular sport, most states have legitimized it, and we’re left out in the cold in New York. It occurs here now underground, and underground fights aren't safe. We need to make it safer, like we try to do for boxing and other sports. If it stays underground, a lot more people would be hurt. We ought to regulate it, we ought to legitimize it, and we ought to get tax revenue from it.

Legislative Leanings: Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz on MMA
NEW YORK
Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz on the MMA bill:
Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz on the MMA bill:
I have serious concerns about the impact of a sport such as Mixed Martial Arts on the mental and physical health of participants, particularly at a time when we are just beginning to understand the long-term effects of sports-related injuries like concussions. However, as with any other bill that crosses my desk during the legislative session, I will carefully consider the merits of a proposal to legalize the sport.

Zuffa to Battle New York in Court on March 5, And What It Means
NEW YORK
The tide of battle may have shifted on the legislative side of Zuffa's campaign to get MMA sanctioned here in New York, but the judicial angle still rages with the intensity of a bloody border conflict, and the next volley of Constitutional artillery is slated to be exchanged on March 5. What exactly is going down then?
